The Toronto International Film Festival is one of the largest film festivals in the world. It attracts close to half a million attendees each year, five thousand of whom are industry professionals. The festival is also one of the most prestigious and influential. It maintains its commitment to promoting cinematic achievements from smaller industries around the world as well as to its role as an indicator of success during awards season in North America.

In addition to the festival's film programming, TIFF also runs an industry conference that includes master classes, dialogues between creators on the craft of filmmaking, moderated panels, and mentoring opportunities for early career professionals. The TIFF study abroad program will give MSU students access to both of these components of the festival.
